Micromax has set up an M&A team to actively work with startups across international markets such as Israel, Silicon Valley.

BENGALURU: Indian handset maker Micromax Informatics, has invested an undisclosed amount in digital health and fitness startup HealthifyMe.

“We believe that India’s preventive healthcare needs transformational technologies,” said Rahul Sharma, cofounder, Micromax, who also said that the objective is to create a steady technology-driven platform to address the fitness and wellness needs of consumers, with this investment.

The company expects to invest in at least 20 more startups with investments in the range of Rs 3.2 crore - 128 crore ( $0.5 - 20 million).

Micromax has set up an M&A team to actively work with startups across international markets such as Israel, Silicon Valley and Europe aside from India.

“Together, we will help our customers eat better, get fitter and fight lifestyle issues effectively,” said Tushar Vashisht, cofounder and CEO, HealthifyMe.
