In mid-2014, Bhattacharya quit as the MD of Baroda Pioneer MF . Before that, he was the chief marketing officer at UTI Mutual Fund.
Bhattacharya said that for the last two years, he was working on various plans to launch his own technology platform. His firm Top3Choice has already tied up with companies like ICRA, the Indian arm of the global ratings major Moody's, and iFast Financial, a mutual fund distribution company which has a strong presence in south Asian markets and has been in India for over five years.
On his decision to enter the investment advisory sector , Bhattacharya said that in the mutual fund industry where there are more than 11,000 schemes, investors with some basic or no knowledge about investing find it very difficult to make the right choice. This leads to delays in decision making or even a wrong decision. “We aim to help investors choose the right investment by simplifying the whole concept and the process -both,“ Bhattacharya said.
