KOCHI: To encourage start-ups in the manufacturing and processing sector, the Department of Industries and Commerce, Kerala has decided to include ideas and prototypes from students for the upcoming machinery exhibition, ‘ Machinery Expo 2016’, to be held at Angamali near here from January 28-30.

A first of its kind initiative in the state, the event will provide a platform for the engineering and B-school students of Kerala to exhibit and promote their out-of-the-box innovative ideas.

“There are a number of technological and manufacturing solutions coming out from the young brains in the state. They should be given due recognition,” said PM Francis, Director, Department of Industries and Commerce. “Our first-ever state-level machinery exhibition will help the student community to exhibit their innovations and find potential investors,” he added.

The ideas and prototypes after a primary scrutiny in the colleges will be shortlisted by the department. As many as five stalls will be allocated for the students. A series of seminars on various finance schemes and latest technologies will also be held during the four-day event.
