Flock’s migration tool facilitates seamless transition from Slack
BENGALURU: Flock, the enterprise messaging tool, has made available a user migration tool to help Slack users to transition to the Flock platform. With the help of the tool, Slack users can migrate to Flock while retaining all data, messages, contacts and chat history.

This move is aimed at challenging Slack’s position as the leading enterprise messaging platform. The other major players in this sector include Microsoft (Teams) and Facebook (Workplace). According to the company’s official release- Slack teams that migrate to Flock will save approximately 60 percent in communication and collaboration costs, from $8.00 (Slack) to $3.00 (Flock) per user per month for premium accounts.

“We observed a steady trend of consistent queries and we thought it is a good time to build it. That was the need from where the feature was born. We wanted to keep it as simple as possible. We spoke to a lot of teams who wanted to migrate and we worked closely with them. We import all users of the original team, all channel Metadata and we also import messages in each channel and files and documents,” said says Ninad Raval, VP, Product and Design, Flock. Flock is run by serial tech entrepreneur Bhavin Turakhia.

Flock is currently developing a similar user migration tool for competitor HipChat’s users as well.
