MUMBAI: TrulyMadly, a dating application launched in August 2014, has raised Rs 35 crore in funding from Helion Venture Partners and existing backer Kae Capital.

The Delhi-based startups founding team includes MakeMyTrip co-founder Sachin Bhatia, LetsBuy co-founder Hitesh Dhingra and ex-MakeMyTrip, Expedia executive Rahul Kumar.

TrulyMadly has over 200,000 downloads, with 97-98% of the engagement happening through the mobile application. According to Bhatia, what works in the startups favour now is that it has a 65:35 male to female ratio as compared to older websites where 9095% registered members were males. “We are building a social network which has to be built through organic virality,“ said Bhatia. Among other things, TrulyMadly plans to invest in its messaging platform which sees over 2.5 million mess ages a month.

Another interesting metric from the startup is that “30% of the members are from outside India's top 10 cities, and we see higher engagement from there, especially from girls“.
