HYDERABAD: Indian cricketer Umesh Yadav who also plays for Kolkata Knight Riders in the Indian Premier League has invested an undisclosed sum in Kolkata-based hyperlocal fashion portal Fashionove, following the trend of sportspersons turning investors. Indian cricketer Yuvraj Singh ventured into backing early stage start-ups with YouWeCan Ventures earlier this year investing in multiple tech start-ups. Tennis ace Mahesh Bhupathi had earlier invested in Bangalore based startup, Sports365.

The 10 month old startup which provides a platform for local boutiques to register and transact products will utilize the funds for data collection and streamlining its app.

The campus startup founded by former students of MICA, Ahmedabad is currently live in Kolkata and Mumbai and will soon launch in Delhi and Bangalore. “We are currently operating with data on 800 boutiques in Kolkata and would like to go deeper in new cities with the angel round,” said co-founder Tanushree Khandelwal.
