Cab comparison and booking site Cabsguru raises angel round

HYDERABAD: Cab comparison and booking platform Cabsguru owned by Nohup Technologies Pvt Ltd has raised an angel round of Rs 1.34 crore (USD 200,000) from a group of investors led by serial entrepreneur Prashanth Ranganathan, former head of product, APAC for PayPal.

The platform founded in 2014 helps users search, compare and book cabs across providers including Ola, Taxi For Sure, Meru, EasyCabs and Mega Cabs among others. It recently launched its cab booking bot Robocab which optimises the booking based on user history including predefined preference of time, cab operator, cab type and surge pricing.

“Robocab indulges in booking cabs based on a selected set of rules defined by the user,” says Pulkit Ahuja, co-founder of the Delhi-based company which supports comparison in 11 cities.

Cabsguru is in the process of building a cross-vertical data gathering and analytics engine to predict road travel across multiple verticals including bike taxis, self-drive cars and cab offerings from various cab providers.

Similar meta-search apps include Loco Cabs, Niki and cab aggregation service provided by travel booking platform Ixigo which provides location specific results for both offline and online cab service providers.
