Bitcoin startup Zebpay enters mobile payment business

AHMEDABAD: Bitcoin startup Zebpay has entered the mobile payment business. Its consumers can now recharge their mobile airtime, DTH and data card using bitcoin, reports Vishal Dutta. The Ahmedabad-based company also plans to start a mobile ecommerce marketplace. Zebpay app users can now recharge prepaid and postpaid plans with almost all telecom operators such as Vodafone, Airtel, Uninor, Tata Docomo, Reliance, BSNL and MTNL, and DTH of Tata Sky, Reliance, Dish TV, Sun TV and others.

Initially, Zebpay’s bitcoin mobile wallet was meant for its users to buy, sell and transact in bitcoins only. The facility is currently available for Zebpay’s Android users while approval on iPhone App Store is awaited. “Currently, we pay the companies in rupees after accepting bitcoin from the Zebpay app users,” said Saurabh Agrawal, co-founder, Zebpay.
