MUMBAI: Bengaluru-based food aggregator Swiggy has expanded its services to Pune. The food delivery start-up recently launched its operations in Mumbai and also has presence in cities such as Bengaluru, Gurgaon, Delhi and Hyderabad.

“Pune is a vibrant city with a huge cosmopolitan populace. We would like to provide customers best choices from an extensive range of restaurants and cuisines, for varying culinary preferences, Nandan Reddy, co-founder, Swiggy said in a press statement. The startup has partnered with over 1,500 restaurants across the cities where it operates.

Unlike Zomato, which accepts orders only on behalf of restaurants, Swiggy has its own fleet of delivery personnel equipped with smartphone who pick up orders from restaurants and deliver them to customers. In Pune, the startup has about 80 delivery executives who will deliver from over 100 restaurants in locations such as Wakad, Aundh, Baner and Pimpri-Saudagar.

Swiggy recently raised Rs 105 crore in a funding round led by Norwest Ventures.
