Beauty and Wellness startup The Home Salon raises seed-fund from accelerator VentureNursery

BENGALURU: VentureNursery, an angel-backed start-up accelerator, has announced a seed investment by its members in The Home Salon, an on-demand home beauty and wellness services platform.

The Home Salon (THS), which graduated from VentureNursery’s sixth acceleration program in June, connects stylists, therapists and beauticians to customers looking for home services and treatments.

It enables customers to book salon services and spa treatments online or through phone, to have a professional come home in less than an hour. It will soon launch its own app on Android and iOS.
The company was co-founded by husband-wife duo Nihar Thanawala and Rishika Chandan, both graduates of the Indian School of Business, Hyderabad.

“Beauty treatments, an essential part of every woman’s grooming requirements, often get compromised due to lack of time and increasingly demanding schedules. The Home Salon aims at making these services a part of their routine without making them go out of the way to fulfil their beauty needs, saving time and allowing them to manage their responsibilities easily,” Chandan said.

It currently operates in Mumbai and is looking to expand to other cities in the near future.

The accelerator, VentureNursery, was started in 2012 by two Angel Investors - Shravan Shroff, founder of Fame Cinemas and Ravi Kiran, Co-Founder and Managing Partner of Friends of Ambition. It has mentored 19 start-ups including OYO Rooms, the popular budget-hotel marketplace.
