Airbnb allows globe trotters to share living spaces with rural artisans Andhra Pradesh

HYDERABAD: Taking village stay experience to a new level, Airbnb, a global home sharing startup, is planning to list rural artisans of Andhra Pradesh engaged in craft works, onto their platform allowing them to share their living spaces with domestic and international travellers. The company has signed a memorandum of understanding ( MoU) with the Andhra Pradesh (AP) government in this regard, informed a senior company official.

Under the partnership, AP's Tourism Department will identify artisans across the state engaged in producing craft works who will then be listed on Airbnb’s global platform. The artisans would be advised by the two parties on improving their hospitable standards by way of sensitisation workshops and helping them create unique and authentic experiences for travellers.

In a statement, Amanpreet Bajaj, country manager, Airbnb India said, “Airbnb will assist the department in listing the homes and experiences of identified artisans on Airbnb’s global platform to offer them exposure to a global audience. We will offer continuous feedback to the artisan hosts on improving their hospitality standards by sharing authentic reviews from travellers, offering tips on improving hosting performance and connecting them with high performing hosts on Airbnb’s platform.”

The MoU with AP's Tourism Department will allow Airbnb to evolve and implement innovative ideas to market and promote these unique homes and experiences to domestic and international visitors.
