Inclusion into MSME category major relief for Covid hit traders, says Delhi BJP

NEW DELHI: In a letter to micro, small and medium enterprises minister Nitin Gadkari and commerce minister Piyush Goyal, Delhi BJP functionary Praveen Shankar Kapoor on Saturday stated that the inclusion of wholesale and retail traders as entrepreneurs in the MSME category has come as a big relief to the Covid-19 hit traders because it will make them eligible for benefits of the various schemes the government runs for them.

One of the country's economic hubs, Delhi has around 15 lakh traders many of whom are small traders but play an important role in the capital's economy. For nearly five years the traders' bodies were demanding their inclusion in the MSME category.

"Apart from getting the benefits of schemes, these traders will now be able to get bank loans reserved for MSME category at concessional rate of interest for business expansion and revitalisation after a long period of Covid slowdown," Kapoor said, thanking the two ministers.
