NEW DELHI: IIT Bombay has placed an order for 3,500 convocation robes made of khadi cotton, inculcating the feeling of nationalism in the students.

A statement from the Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises stated, "Khadi has made a niche in the hearts of authorities of premier Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay, after Gujarat University."

The institute has placed an order for "3,500 uttarias or angavastrams" made of honey comb towel cotton khadi to be worn by students at the time of the convocation. IIT, Bombay, Director, Devang Khakhar said, "The institute has adopted khadi to inculcate the feeling of nationalism in the students."
