Amazon India, on Tuesday, kicked off its summit for small businesses Amazon SMBhav 2024. In the opening address, Samir Kumar, Country Manager, Amazon India announced that the e-commerce platform has exceeded its target of digitizing 10 million MSMEs by 2025 a year ahead of schedule. It has already digitized 12 million MSMEs in India.

“I am happy to share with you that we have already delivered on our first play of digitizing ten million small businesses, one year ahead of time. We have enabled over 12 million of small businesses to become part of India's traditional economy. We have enabled over 12 million of small businesses to become part of India's traditional economy. We have enabled nearly $13 billion in exports and created close to 1.4 million direct and indirect jobs,” he said.

In last year’s summit, it was announced that Amazon India will digitise 10 million MSMEs, enable $20 billion in e-commerce exports, and create 2 million jobs in India by 2025.

He also lauded the government's commitment to developing digital public infrastructure and e-commerce export initiatives, which he believes is creating new pathways for India's small businesses to reach global markets.

“We are seeing the benefit of this first time with tens of thousands of exporters from different corners of the country, tapping into the global supply chain with our exposed program,” he said.
