BENGALURU: Game publishing startup Flixy Games has raised $425,000 in seed funds from Japan-based venture capital firm Rebright Partners. The startup has also launched its first game — Avatars Clash: Come on Mahaar — in partnership with Japanese gaming studio Axelmark, the creators of the game.

Flixy Games will handle the production, running of the game as a live service, customer support and incorporate monetisation strategies suitable for the Indian market. "High-quality games that also compliment the theme are growing lesser in number day by day. The bar is set very high on international games, but the same cannot be said for India," said Felix Manojh, founder of Flixy Games. "We wish to change that and focus on creating games that cater to a very unique aesthetic."

According to Takeshi Ebihara, founding general partner of Rebright Partners, gaming in India is about to witness a revolutionary growth on the back of cheaper 4G data and smartphones. "There is tremendous potential in the Indian gaming industry. Felix and his team have a solid foundation in releasing worldclass games with their experience at Zynga and we are excited to back their vision," Ebihara said.
