AION-Tech’s ETO Motors onboarded as logistics partner for Indian Railways’ RailParcel pilot across seven cities

Indian Railways has launched RailParcel, a pilot initiative to enhance rail parcel movement across seven cities, with ETO Motors as the logistics partner for first and last-mile delivery.

This collaboration aims to improve coordination between rail terminals and customers, ensuring timely and efficient parcel movement.
Hyderabad: Indian Railways has launched RailParcel, a pilot initiative aimed at improving parcel movement through rail across seven cities — Hyderabad, Vijayawada, Guntur, Rajahmundry, Visakhapatnam, Bengaluru and Chennai under the leadership of the South Central Railway (SCR) zone. As part of the pilot rollout, ETO Motors, a subsidiary of AION-Tech Solutions Limited, has been onboarded as the logistics partner to SCR, managing first- and last-mile parcel delivery operations across the selected cities and enabling seamless connectivity between rail transport and end pickup and delivery points during the pilot phase.

The initiative strengthens on-ground parcel movement by improving coordination between railway terminals and end customers, ensuring timely and efficient execution across the pilot cities.

RailParcel is a customer-facing parcel movement solution designed to improve the movement of parcels through India’s extensive rail network by enabling greater shipment visibility and streamlined operational workflows. The pilot represents an important step toward modernizing parcel handling processes while supporting more efficient and sustainable logistics movement through rail.

Anthony Daniel, Chief Business Officer, ETO Motors said, in a statement, “The RailParcel pilot demonstrates how structured first- and last-mile logistics can effectively complement large-scale rail transportation networks. Through this engagement, we are integrating our electric mobility-led logistics capabilities into rail-linked supply chains and supporting more seamless connectivity between railway terminals and end customers. Working with South Central Railway on this pilot allows us to strengthen operational readiness in sustainable parcel movement and contribute to more efficient multimodal logistics frameworks.”

Under the current pilot deployment, ETO Motors is managing on-ground parcel movement across three cities, facilitating transfers between designated railway terminals and customer delivery points. The rollout is aligned with scheduled rail operations to support timely parcel movement during the pilot phase. The initiative is designed to strengthen the operational linkage between rail transport and urban delivery networks, enabling smoother parcel flow across touchpoints. Through structured ground-level logistics execution, the pilot supports improved service consistency and more efficient utilization of rail-linked parcel capacity.

ETO’s integration with South Central Railway creates a truly end-to-end green mobility ecosystem. ETO EVs power the first and last mile, while the rail network drives the mid-mile at scale. Together, they deliver seamless, efficient, and low-carbon movement across the value chain.
