Nashik: NMC starts giving nod for repair of buildings, demolition of unsafe structures

Nashik: The Nashik Municipal Corporation (NMC) has decided to give permission to repair works of the buildings along with demolition of unsafe structures or buildings in the city.

The decision comes following fresh guidelines of the state government issued on Tuesday.

Earlier, the builders who have already got commencement certificates and workers staying at the construction sites, were allowed to start construction activities with maximum five labourers and by maintaining social distancing along with other safety measures.


"Now, the government has given its approval for urgent pre-monsoon works related to the real estate sector. This includes the works related to protection of building, shuttering, water proofing, flood protection, propping and structural repairs of building, demolition of unsafe buildings, etc," an NMC official said.

"However, the social distancing and other hygiene norms as per standard health protocol should be followed strictly," the official added.

Chief secretary Ajoy Mehta issue a circular in this regard on Tuesday. Accordingly, the NMC has appealed to the builders, developers and owners of houses or buildings to apply for getting the permission from town planning department.

Meanwhile, 389 builders and owners have applied to the NMC for permission to start construction activities.

The NMC has given permissions to 220 builders so far and most of them have started construction activities in the city. Moreover, the NMC has also rejected permissions to 18 builders.

The construction activities had completely stopped in the city after the government announced lockdown following Covid-19 outbreak.
