LUCKNOW: The Lucknow Development Authority will now invite people to register for residential units to gauge the demand before launching any housing project in the city. The decision has been taken to avoid unnecessary expenditure on constructing housing units, which often find no buyers later. At present, over 3,000 LDA flats are lying unsold.

The decision was taken at a meeting chaired by Lucknow divisional commissioner Mukesh Meshram in the presence of LDA vice-chairman Shiwa Kant Dwivedi and other top LDA officials on Tuesday.

LDA will first invite people for a registration process by providing information related to upcoming housing projects through advertisement. After receiving registration forms, it will construct the number of flats or housing units required.
