Dalit chamber seeks policy for SC/ST SMEs in West Bengal
KOLKATA: Dalit Indian Chamber of Commerce & Industry ( DICCI), a body of Dalit entrepreneurs, has asked the West Bengal government to frame a policy for SC/ST-run small and medium enterprises ( SMEs) in the state.

There are a number of SMEs in the state which are being run by SCs and STs, DICCI chairman Milind Kamble said.

He was speaking at the two-day Bengal Global Business Summit that concluded on Saturday.

"There are several states which have a separate policy for such enterprises which offer certain benefits", the DICCI chairman informed in a meet at the summit, which was also attended by Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee.

Kamble suggested that West Bengal should also come forward in drawing up a similar policy for the Dalits-run units.

He said such a policy would help the Dalits to run their units in a better manner.
