HYDERABAD: Logistics startup Emiza Supply Chain Services has raised $4.5 million (about Rs 30 crore) in funding led by Silicon Valley-based venture capital firm Mayfield to strengthen its technology platform and hire senior executives for its leadership team.

Existing investors Nishant Rao, the outgoing chief operating officer at Freshdesk, and Dileep Nath, promoter of technology services firm Kanbay, also put in money.

Mayfield made its investment through its second India-dedicated fund, Mayfield India II. Including the latest transaction, Emiza has raised a total Rs 35 crore so far.

Mumbai-based Emiza, founded by Ajay Rao and Rajesh Sharma in 2015, caters to the intra-region, less-than-a-truckload network in small cities and towns. It also offers clients an integrated warehousing platform.

"Primary distribution, as well as last-mile logistics, is a well-funded space in India. However, there is an absence of an established player to connect the dots between these two spaces," said Vikram Godse, managing partner at MF Advisors LLP, the Indian arm of Mayfield.

"By providing a tech-driven, one-stop logistics solution combined with a hub-and-spoke warehousing model which drives costs lower, Emiza's offering is going to be a big pain-killer for its customers."
