PoS holes worry CERT-In
NEW DELHI: The Indian Computer Emergency Response Team ( CERT-In) has issued an advisory on security of PoS (point-of-sale) systems, warning against possible threats to the system that is most commonly used at retail shops to accept debit and credit card payments.

India's largest ever data breach, in which 3.2 million debit cards were compromised, also involved an unknown number of ATMs and PoS machines that were compromised by an unknown malicious virus. The advisory also comes less than a week after Paytm launched a PoS service through its app and withdrew it only a day later, citing privacy and security concerns.

The CERT advisory pointed “skimming“ and malware as the two most common threats to transactions carried out at PoS terminals.
