BENGALURU: Mobile wallet company MobiKwik has tied up with ICICI Bank to launch the Unified Payments Interface ( UPI) on its platform. The feature will be live from Wednesday, the company said.

MobiKwik COO Mrinal Sinha said the UPI feature will give users another portal to add money to their wallets. "MobiKwik users now have an additional option for real time wallet loading with UPI, and can use the e-cash at over one lakh online and offline merchants across the country," he said.

MobiKwik is the latest among payments startups to integrate UPI. Last month, Freecharge launched UPI on its platform in partnership with Axis Bank, while digital payments and ecommerce platform Instamojo tied up with ICIC Bank to allow users to collect payments through UPI. ICICI Bank recently said it has crossed one lakh Virtual Payment Addresses (VPA) since it launched UPI last month.

UPI is a payment platform launched by the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) that lets users create a virtual payment address to transfer money and make payments from their mobile phones on a real-time basis.
