NEW DELHI: Syona Cosmetics Pvt. Ltd, a Chennai-based start-up has appointed Satish Kumar, former managing director, Henkel India as its board member.

Founded in 2012, by Raja Varatharaju and Anuradha Balasubramanian, Syona Cosmetics is a high-end professional cosmetics player marketed under the brand Estrella Professional. Estrella Professional is associated with corporate chains like YLG, Naturals, Limelight, Naturals@Home, Quickr among other salons, according to a company release.

The company has tie-ups with international laboratories in Europe for developing products. Estrella Professional’s owns brands like Intenso, Lumiance, X Pro C, Vita Verde etc.

"Syona Cosmetics is in the middle of Series A fundraising process. With Estrella Professional becoming a leading innovative professional brand, we are entering the retail space with a new brand, in line with our strategy," Raja Varatharaju, Co-Founder and Director, Syona Cosmetics, said.

By March next year, the company is looking at reaching 4500 salons across India.

"It’s an exciting young team with a lot of promise. Syona has made a rapid progress in professional business and their retail plans looks promising. I would be advising them on strengthening strategy and organisation building in first few months," said Kumar who has also served on the board of leading companies like Amrutanjan, Lakshmi Vilas Bank, XS Real Group, etc.
