Need for facilitating rural entrepreneurship: Minister Birender Singh
ROHTAK: Union Minister Birender Singh today stressed that rural transformation in India can be possible only through economic empowerment of villages by "facilitating rural entrepreneurship".

"The need of the hour is to ensure economic activities at village level and facilitating rural entrepreneurship," the Union Minister for Rural Development, Panchayati Raj, Drinking Water and Sanitation said.

Singh was addressing a national conference on 'Rural transformation in India, Challenges, Opportunities and Strategies' organised at Maharshi Dayanand University (MDU) here.

He said that rural transformation would require expansion of infrastructure at village level, better education opportunities and change in the mindset of people.

Singh called for employment-oriented education and establishment of community colleges for facilitating rural transformation.

NABARD Chairman, Harsh Kumar Bhanwala advocated for effective financial schemes to boost rural development as well as rural entrepreneurship.
