BANGALORE: Betaglide, a startup that builds technology to optimise mobile applications, bagged an early-stage investment prize of $1 million (Rs 6 crore) from Texas-based venture capital firm Mercury Fund.

Founded by four IIT graduates, the technology startup looks to ease the task of a mobile app developer by providing real data on the performance of the app across several devices.

"It takes at least six months for a startup to raise funding in India. So we decided to go to the Valley for a week," said Amritanshu Anand, cofounder of the Bangalore-based startup, who won the investment prize at the Rice Business Plan competition.

Devices across the mobile spectrum have different operating software, screen sizes and hardware specifications and, hence, it becomes quite strenuous for a developer to decipher the performance measure of his app.

This is where Betaglide provides a onestop solution to developers that will allow them to see where, why and how their users are facing problems with their apps.

"This is a great solution for developers," said Abhishek Gupta, head of TLabs, which provided seed funding of Rs 10 lakh to the startup last year.

The startup currently has presence in Indian and US markets and plans to expand to Southeast Asia and Europe, aiming to cross 20,000 apps in the next two years.
