CLOSING BELL: NIFTY50 ENDS ABOVE 10,000 FOR

Shares of Tata Steel (up 2.33 per cent), Sun Pharma (up 2.12 per cent) and ICICI Bank (up 2.11 per cent) were the top gainers on the index while Axis Bank (down 3.07 per cent) and Asian Paints (down 1.43 per cent) capped gains.

YES BANK HITS FRESH RECORD HIGH POST STOCK SPLIT, Q1 RESULTS
Private sector lender Yes BankBSE 4.82 % on Wednesday reported a profit after tax (PAT) of Rs 965.52 crore for the quarter ended June 30, which was lower than Rs 944 crore estimated in an ETNow poll. The profit for Q1FY18 was higher by 31.93 per cent as against Rs 731.81 crore which was reported in the year ago quarter.
HDFC, the largest housing finance company, on Wednesday reported a 16.83 per cent YoY drop in net profit to Rs 1,556 crore for the quarter ended June 30, 2017. This was lower than Rs 1,630 crore profit anticipated by analysts in an ET NOW poll.
PVR on Wednesday reported a 3.7 per cent YoY rise in net profit at Rs 44.40 crore, which was largely in line with Rs 45 crore estimated by analysts in an ET Now poll. The company had reported Rs 42.80 crore-profit in the corresponding quarter last year.
Shares of Federal Bank fell over 5 per cent in Wednesday's trade after the bank failed to meet estimates as provisions for bad loans rose. Following the development, the stock shed 5.42 to Rs 112.60 on BSE. It opened at Rs 119.40 and touched an intraday high and low of Rs 121.45 and Rs 112.50 respectively.
Shares of Prestige Estates Projects surged over 7 per cent in Wednesday's trade on reports that the company is looking to raise funds by divesting stake across its business verticals, starting with the commercial and retail portfolios.

Shares of Jaiprakash Associates jumped over 6 per cent in Wednesday's trade, taking its gains this month to over 40 per cent. The stock has been on an upward trend ever since shareholding data showed ace investor Rakesh Jhunjhunwala picked up 2.5 crore shares, or 1 per cent stake, in the company during the June quarter.
Shares of Honda Siel Power Products advanced over 8 per cent in morning trade after Old Bridge Capital Management bought 64503 shares in the company at Rs 1347.75 on Tuesday. The scrip had hit a 52-week high of Rs 1750 on November 7, 2016 and 52-low of Rs 1185.30 on August 1, 2016.
Shares of Bharti Airtel declined as much as 1.40 per cent in early trade on Wednesday after the telecom major reported its smallest profit in 18 quarters as the price war triggered by newcomer Reliance Jio led to a massive 75 per cent fall in its April-June earnings. The company announced its financial results on Tuesday post market hours.
Nearly 50 stocks hit their fresh 52-week high on NSE in Wednesday's trade after the bourses saw a cautious start ahead of the July derivatives contract expiry. The pack included stocks such as Deepak Fertilisers, Navin Fluorine, Parsvnath Developers, Alstom India, JP Power, GTL Infra, Uttam Sugar Mills, Eastern Silk, Esab India and Unitech.
Shares of National Fertilizers (NFL) cracked over 7 per cent in Wednesday’s trade after the government kicked off two-day offer for sale (OFS). The government said it will sell 15 per cent stake in the state-run fertiliser company at a floor price of Rs 72.80, which was at 7.67 per cent discount to Tuesday’s closing price of Rs 78.85.

Sensex, Nifty trade flat; Rupee opens at 64.43 against US dollar
The dollar bobbed above a 13-month low against a basket of major currencies on Wednesday, as investors awaited the US Federal Reserve's policy statement for clues on the timing of its next monetary tightening. The dollar index, which measures the greenback's value against a basket of six major currencies, stood at 94.082
Brent crude futures rose 32 cents, or 0.6 per cent, to $50.52 a barrel by 0142 GMT, after rallying more than 3 per cent on Tuesday. US West Texas Intermediate futures rose 42 cents, or 0.9 per cent to $48.31 a barrel.

SIGNAL FROM SINGAPORE
Nifty50 futures on the Singapore Stock Exchange were trading 6.50 points higher at 9,979.50, indicating a flat opening for the domestic market.
The index formed a Bearish Belt Hold pattern on the daily chart and technical analysts believe it may not be a smooth ride for the index from here on. Traders should remain cautious and not to get carried away and wait for a decisive breakout above the 10,000 mark on a closing basis.

ASIAN MARKETS MIXED
MSCI's broadest index of Asia-Pacific shares outside Japan, rose 0.1 per cent, drawing support after the S&P 500 climbed to an all-time high overnight on well-received results from McDonald's and Caterpillar. South Korea's KOSPI stood little changed and Australian stocks rose 0.9 per cent. Japan's Nikkei added 0.8 percent after the dollar extended an overnight rally against the yen to pull away from seven-week lows.

SENSEX ON TUESDAY
