We do not sit in meditation for enlightenment. It cannot be a goal. Goals operate in the material world. We set goals and strive towards their realisation. Such goals operate for our material progress and the well- being of our lives.

Just sitting is enlightenment. Seeing things as they are is enlightenment. Watching while walking is enlightenment. Thinking while eating, walking and watching, and merely doing things is not enlightenment. Practising it forcibly is unnatural. It leads to stress and conflict. Being involved makes us forget who we are.

Enlightenment is defined as losing one's sense of self. This can occur anytime and anywhere. It does not always occur in mountains and caves. The world is a real testing place for all our virtues. Any virtue that we cultivate deliberately will not last long.

If all human souls are enlightened, the notion of achieving enlightenment through practice would then be fundamentally flawed; it will only be a dream.

When we are deeply connected to nature and live according to her vagaries, it is enlightenment. When we constantly search for the beauty in imperfection and accept the natural cycle of life, it is enlightenment.

When we realise perfection is impossible and is only a myth; imperfection is not in the universe but in language, in our thought, perception, knowledge and consciousness, and accept the impermanence as the only way, it is enlightenment.
