In the outer world, progress is measured by the accumulation of possessions, knowledge and status. But in the inner world, we grow by shedding the ego, the 'I-ness' that fuels anger, jealousy and pride. It keeps us restless and unable to meditate, trapping us in attractions of the outer world. To rise above it, here're 3 steps:
Ethical values: Cultivate love, truthfulness, compassion, humility and forgiveness. These virtues lay the foundation for inner peace and prepare the ground for meditation.
Benefit from satsang: In an assembly of a spiritual master, we stand to gain the most when we are receptive. Their divine words and glances of grace cleanse the soul of dirt accumulated over lifetimes, accelerating spiritual progress.
Meditate regularly: Through meditation, we are transported to the inner spiritual worlds of love and Light, and experience our true nature as souls. We realise oneness with the Creator and with our fellow beings, which leads us to a life of love, bliss and joy.
When these steps are practised sincerely, ego dissolves. In losing the self, we gain infinite joy, peace and love from the Divine.
