Most spiritual traditions teach that the soul is naturally pure. Fear, pain, attachment and ignorance create negative actions. Just as dark clouds temporarily hide the sun without diminishing its light, difficult phases in life can temporarily hide a person's kindness and wisdom. With healing, guidance and time, many people rediscover their true nature.
A kind word, a listening ear or a simple act of forgiveness can become a turning point in someone's life. At the same time, we can protect our peace while still wishing others well and recognising that their actions may reflect their inner struggles rather than their true character.
Life moves in cycles. Someone struggling today may become a source of inspiration tomorrow. We, too, may one day need the patience and understanding of others. The next time someone behaves harshly, pause before labelling them as a bad person. Consider that they may be experiencing a difficult chapter in their journey.
