Einstein’s discovery of the equation, E = mc2, turned out to be a watershed event in the history of science. It revealed the relationship between matter and energy. In a single stroke, he explained how matter could be converted into energy. The energy thus released could be enough to power a nuclear bomb. We too are made of matter and energy.

If the two are harnessed properly, we can achieve the ultimate goal of our existence — Self-enlightenment, which hitherto has remained a mystery. This mystery can be decoded if we see things in parallel with Einstein’s equation. Here ‘E’ could stand for enlightenment, ‘m’ for mind management, and ‘c2’ for commitment, that is enlightenment = mind management + commitment. In step one, everyone wants to depart from this world in peace and go to heaven. Here, enlightenment is the final goal. Step two involves management of mind.

Hence, the mind needs to be managed in a way that it is always calm and peaceful. The last step is commitment. It is shraddha, faith, which leads to commitment. We pray to God because we have faith in Him. Commitment yields exponential results as reflected by ‘c2’ in the equation.
