Trees, rivers, mountains, stars, planets, animals, humans - all are products of this same primal energy. At the core, all are expressions of one cosmic principle. This great power is what the sages called Shakti. Every motion in the cosmos - song of birds, beating of the human heart - is Shakti in action. This grand play of energy is what our rishis revered as Devi. When they worshipped Devi, they were in truth bowing to this supreme power, this life-force itself.
Our mind thinks, desires, and feels joy, sorrow, anger and love - yet, we often remain unaware of the power driving these inner movements. This very power is Shakti; this very energy is what we call God.
Most people mistake God to be an idol in a temple but fail to see that the very life-force within them is Divine. During Navaratri, it is important to establish an external image of the Divine Mother, but equally important is to recognise that until the supreme consciousness within awakens, the spiritual secret of Navaratri remains undiscovered. It is an opportunity for inner exploration and awakening of this energy.
