What Viru did during his active years is in records for everyone to see. For all those who are praising him post-retirement: what they used to say and write to keep him out of the team is perhaps forgotten. Viru has no choice but to forgive one and all. Thankfully, a retiring cricketer today is wealthy enough to plan his remaining life.

Virender Sehwag excelled with his hand-and-eye coordination, and no other player had such talent. His prowess can be compared only with him and no one else. He was the player who brought glory and entertainment to Indian cricket.

Swashbuckling opener Sehwag provided excellent openings that, no doubt, laid the foundation for result-oriented matches in Tests. It wouldn’t be an exaggeration to say that he belonged to the ‘Do or die’ tribe, whereby spectators never witnessed a dull moment during his time on the crease. No wonder cricket aficionados will fondly remember his fire-cracking shots in the middle of the pitch.
