Instead of gram, the MPs can look at block level and identify the shortcomings in education, healthcare, connectivity, etc, in each block. It can then fill in the gaps. If blocks are properly developed, nearby villages will benefit too.

It is a fallacious argument just to criticise a good scheme. Is the MP implying that if he adopts eight of the 3,000 villages and improves them, he will likely lose next elections? So he is better off not improving any of them. At least nobody will blame him for being partial, and he can keep getting reelected.

Incentive for improvement should come from within a community and then it can be helped from the outside by project managers from the village panchayat, the block development officer, the Collector and other connected agencies.

Who said politics or being an MLA/MP was an easy job? Mr MP, if you are incapable, please step down and let a better leader take charge. Or do tangible work for eight villages and then demand more resources for other villages. For country’s sake, stop thinking about next elections — instil confidence in the people and they will re-elect you.
