The boat was apprehended successfully based on intelligence reports. Notably, no country protested. Here, government is justified in being discrete till all facts are in place instead of divulging unconsolidated bits and pieces.

Everyone missed out that multiple BJP statements and press releases said a 26/11-type terrorist attack had been foiled, without citing evidence. The Congress raised questions and Parrikar explained why it was a possible terrorist attack.

The arguments are weak. The fact that things are not as vivid as they ought to be doesn’t mean the other way is right, akin to “you are not proven guilty is not the same as you are innocent”. Since the occupants committed suicide and destroyed the boat, the guys on the boat were seriously bad.

Was there conclusive evidence that the World Trade Center was attacked by Osama bin Laden? To survive, we have to eliminate terrorists without bothering much for evidence. During the Punjab crisis, judiciary that had truckloads of evidence had become virtually defunct and only the no-nonsense approach of Mr Gill worked.
