The reservation system needs to continue in India as there are many socially backward people . However, there must be a critical periodical review to ensure that the benefit reaches the entire community without excluding those who really deserve them. 50% reservation limit makes eminent sense to ensure others are not deprived of the benefits exceedingly.

Hindu right-wing organisations must strive to remove discrimination based on caste among the majority community. Further, efforts should be made to uplift the downtrodden among them and raise their standard of living.

British and Mughal rulers used the caste system to give limited rights to a tiny section of Hindus. Unfortunately, we continued to follow the system of reservations for the so-called lower castes which has made upper castes feel threatened. Ideally, reservations should be on the basis of poverty, not on a theoretical caste system. Post-independence has seen a lot of inter-mingling of castes. It is an opportune time to do away with reservations on caste.
