The Best Reason: For no particular reason

Forrest Gump, played by Tom Hanks in the eponymous 1994 Robert Zemeckis film, gets up one day from a rocking chair on his porch and starts to run. First, he decides to run to the end of the road. Then he decides to run across town. Then across Greenbow County. Then across the state of Alabama into adjoining Mississippi. Ultimately, he traverses the length and breadth of the United States for three years. Years later, Gump recalls, 'That day, for no particular reason, I decided to go for a little run.' For him, one limit led to another and he kept running 'for no particular reason'. The media, being the media, couldn't fathom why he was running. What was his agenda? Was it to highlight a cause? They just couldn't believe Gump when he explained: 'I just felt like running.'

After three years of 'just running', Gump suddenly stops - just as he had suddenly started. After crisscrossing the country, making jogging a national fad in the 1980s, becoming a national legend, and sporting a hermit's scraggly beard after three years of no trim or shave, his followers and media now expected him to offer pearls of wisdom now that he stopped running. He offers none. Instead, he says that he stopped because he was 'now tired'. So, here is the finest, most honest reason for any 'nation jodo yatra' - walking/running across the country for no particular reason.
