Some confusion about fusion

There is some confusion over fusion. After Tuesday's announcement by the US energy secretary Jennifer Granholm, many people can't understand why the news of what is being touted as the 'greatest breakthrough in chronicles of scientific progress and turning point in human history' was not delivered by the president, but one of his colleagues. In many political and showbiz cultures, it is taken for granted that any big good news should be announced by the leader of the pack - unless it's about the end of the world or other less dramatic variations of it. Ministers and supporting cast members are bringers of news of comparatively less import. Credit has to be given where it's due, and blame in the other slot.

True, the breakthrough itself is huge. But as big, if not bigger, is the mystery of why Joe Biden didn't say, 'Fusion energy is here!' himself. Could it be because when the aam janta heard about success in 'producing more energy out of a controlled reaction that put into it' - in financial terms, a Ponzi scheme - their only question has been: mileage kitni hai? Or do we now not have to pay for unlimited power? Considering the answer to that is still an 'Um, er...', perhaps having Granholm up there to talk through 'sun in a bottle' makes sense. In any case, if it really was revolutionary, Elon Musk would have tweeted it before anyone else.
