A neighbour is threatened with takeover — show the threatener what you got

Forget countries for a minute. Instead, imagine a man in steel-toed boots announcing he's going to kick down one of your friendly neighbours' door and redecorate his living room with his own furniture. He even brings a measuring tape. The RWA uncles gather, nod gravely, and then decide the best course of action is to... have a jagran. After all, nothing says 'deterrence' like discordant loud singing.

So, here's the problem with defence strategies that exist only on paper. There are laminated flowcharts, colour-coded sirens, and a WhatsApp group called 'Nukkad Guardians'. Yet, when the moment arrives, everyone suddenly remembers they left the kitchen gas on. The intruder strolls in, rearranges the sofa and claims squatter's rights, while the rest debate whether Westphalian laws are still valid or not. Surely, those fancy editions of Sun Tzu's Art of War and Carl von Clausewitz's On War must come in handy beyond being pulled out for newspaper letters to the editor? If deterrence is merely theoretical, we might as well replace 100 to call the cops with 420. The only thing a defence plan defends can't be the right to hold endless meetings about defending. So, if anyone with a bellyful of bully threatens forceful entry, skip the PPT and bring out the guns (or cricket bats). Else, admit you're just a homeowners' association cosplaying as Nato.
