Rail against GoI, Rahul, but rail better

One can't help but feel a bit bad for Rahul Gandhi. As a former LSE student had sung about his own condition, Gandhi tries and he tries and he tries and he tries, but he can't get no satisfaction. The Trinity College alumnus' tryst last Friday at his alma mater in Cambridge didn't turn out as he had destined it to be. The occasion: an 'Ideas of India' conference. The plot: lost. It wasn't so much about him dissing GoI on foreign soil, as much as about him muffing it. Stating 'BJP has 100% control of the media' is a bit rich considering that Indian media covered him stating exactly that. Also, comparing Pakistan's deep state with an Indian one is so shallow that it won't play well politically to his benefit, especially in the border states of (Congress-governed) Punjab and Rajasthan. Tweeting that India is 'going the Sri Lankan way' is also the kind of 'The end of the world is nigh' prognostication we have come to expect from Not-Quite-Stradamus.

But the cherry at the bottom of the cake has to be Gandhi posing with Jeremy 'Who?' Corbyn, former British Labour PM candidate, now an angry not-at-all-young man whom even Britons don't recall without Google searching. The optics look bad when two very former leaders of the opposition meet. Gandhi should rail against GoI, by all means, preferably inside the country than outside. But, boss, rail better.
