Issue-based political commentary still exists - but just. What matters is who says or push-pulls things, not the things themselves. Politics was always too important to be left to politicians. We are in an era where that importance is undermined without anyone complaining. All politics is psychological - and if you want to push the numerics, definitely sociological. It remains so today. But its interpretations and analyses - ancillary aspects, to be sure - have shrunk, to the point of boredom. Politics has become the subject of lazy gists, not engaging reviews. Which is good news for all things non-political. But popular interest in entertainment has lost one of its most engaging subjects.
