Long Live Socialism & Mamata Banerjee!

Lest we be thought of as a pinko publication, rather than the pink paper that we are, immediately after wishing Socialism — Shosalisam, if we stick to the original Tamil — and P Mamata Banerjee a wonderful married life, let us attest that this is not fake news. A M Socialism is the name of Salem’s CPI District Secretary A Mohan’s youngest son. The bride comes from a staunch Congress family. Both Tamil families seem happy to wear their ideologies on their sleeves. Socialism, a BCom graduate, runs a silver jewellery manufacturing unit, which does not make either hammer or sickle trinkets. His brothers, Communism and Leninism (please note, not Lenin), who are a lawyer and father of Marxism (please also note, not the other way around) respectively, will certainly paint the town red at Socialism’s big day tomorrow.

P Mamata Banerjee, a BA in English, was named after the current West Bengal chief minister when she was still in Congress. The invitation card for tomorrow’s wedding — complete with the communist insignia of hammer and sickle — bears testimony to what we always suspected: that Mamata Banerjee loves Socialism.
