KBC voiders, it's ok to be cosmic provincials

When everyone's talking about politics, the economy, last night's IPL game and other things of immense import, we thought it fit to talk about a cosmological matter. Well, it's really about real estate. It's been more than a decade since evidence showed that we, all living things on Earth, live in a particularly empty part of town. Don't be fooled by the traffic, but we residents of PIN Code Milky Way exist in a region largely devoid of other galaxies and stars called the KBC Void - not named after the purgatory where those who fail miserably in episodes of Kaun Banega Crorepati end up in, but a cosmic void named after the three astronomers, (Ryan) Keenan, (Amy) Barger and (Lennox) Cowie, who studied it in 2013. Which means we not only live in the boondocks of our own galaxy but we're also located in the middle of nowhere.

But being provincial, living in astronomical backwaters, isn't necessarily a bad thing. While this may explain why no one else from the cosmic equivalent of SoBo or South Delhi visits us outside SF movies, this splendid isolation may have also given us the peace of mind that comes with no alien invasion/unannounced guests dropping by, to let us thrive in our more meaningful activities. Yes, unfortunately though, being KBC Voiders also does give us too much time to pursue things like politics, the economy, IPL....
