Take Your Child to Work Day is a common feature in uncommon companies. But what about Bring Your Parents to Work? After Morocco knocked out Portugal from the World Cup on Saturday, along with the world getting acquainted with a new football powerhouse, it was also introduced to Mrs Hakimi, mum of Moroccan right-back Achraf Hakimi who sent the winning goal into the Portuguese net during the penalty shootout. Hakimi Jr went up into the stands to plant a kiss on the cheek of Hakimi Sr. And he's not the only one. Morocco midfielder Sofiane Boufal went one up on Hakimi by escorting his mum down to the pitch after the historic match to have her celebrate with him. The world saw a son'n'mum jig facing the happy crowds.

The Moroccan sons' pride in their mothers has been a lovely surprise for all of us, since we don't get to see much public displays of filial affection, that too among sportfolks. We have loads of WAGs - wives and girlfriends - of sportsmen in the public domain, but very few trophy fathers or mothers. The gush that is usually trotted out is in Bollywood, where it frankly doesn't count, since nepotism deserves parental bowing before fans anyway. But making parents come out of the woodwork at the workplace - in the case of Hakimi and Boufal, at the global world place of the World Cup - should be a trend. Even fathers will approve.
