Today is a special day, especially auspicious for the architect of any 'Make in India' or other Nehruvian-type nation-building programme: Vishwakarma puja. As the divine architect, his behind-the-scene role in boosting Indian manufacturing in the last quarter, even as Covid-19 hangs in the air, has been inspirational. Not only is he the hand that rocks the infra factory cradle, but Vishwakarma - literally, the world maker - is the bulwark of the defence industry that DRDO should look up to for tips. If there was a simple military-industrial complex, here's your go-to guy.

We celebrate Vishwakarma's day by flying kites, literally - hoping that the more figurative kind will materialise in bold ideas leaving their idea stage. Much before machine learning and artificial intelligence took on the cool acronyms of ML and AI, the Great Startupper taught us the value of caring for machines, precision instruments and valuing natural intelligence. Some countries picked up his tips, some are yet to. As workers of the world unite to honour Vishwakarma, happy in the knowledge that by embracing technology they have nothing to lose but being downsized, we, white collars, wish the son of MD-CEO Brahma, the draftsman of all things barring China's Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) projects, our prayers and cheers on his birthday.
