Considering that an asteroid by the so-unexciting-that-it-is-exciting name of 2024 YR has a possibility of crashing into Earth in 2032, we can safely presume that we will know not only who will form the new Delhi government later today, but also that the latter will survive any celestially-engineered calamity just yet. True, even with the chances of the upto 300 ft-wide space rock hitting us is up since last week - scientists have raised it from 1.3% to 2.3% - a 1-in-43 chance is as safe as you make it out to be. For punters, a worldwide catastrophe - which can result in the extinction of many species, including the most complaining kind, humans - can be a bigger satta thrill than putting one's money where AAP, BJP or Congress seats will be.

A 2.3% probability is shared with two 6-sided dice rolling a total of 4, or a penalty kick saved by a goalkeeper if the ball is aimed at the bottom right corner. 2024 YR is scheduled to 'come closest' to Earth on Dec 22, 2032. Which means that while UP, Punjab and Himachal would have conducted their assembly polls by then, Gujarat's - slated for December that year - may yet be pending. Unless, of course, in 7 years' time, we have 'one nation, one election'. So, let's be thankful that we shall survive at least tomorrow to know who comes crashing in Delhi. Because the more proverbial tomorrow never knows.
