Caught bulldozing, let's call it DhartiD2

The bulldozer needs a makeover. Of late, because of some dodgy image management, the vehicle that gave us the scoop'n'dig has hit dirt and gained rep as a bully. All is not lost, though. After all, the dozer blade, a charming implement for clearing landscapes for constructive purposes, was not created for deconstructive tactics that Jacques Derrida - whose philosophical idea of 'deconstruction' breaks down fundamental conceptual distinctions - would have disapproved. The bulldozer was caught bulldozing most famously in Douglas Adams' The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, when Arthur Dent sees a bulldozer outside his kitchen window, waiting to demolish his house as it is in the way of a planned route for a (hyperspace) bypass. Dent decides upon a Gandhian tactic: lying down before the tool-turned-menacing machine.

Here in India, the Hitchhiker's Guide is replaced by The Toolkit. Before more reputational damage is caused to the decent 'Bulldee', here are three things that could give it a much- needed image boost. One, have concerts with singers performing from the neck of a bulldozer instead from a stage. Two, keep a bulldozer as a fake elephant to be taken out every Ganapati festival bedecked in flowers. Three, change its tainted name to something gentler, like 'Scooper' or 'DhartiD2' (on the lines of that cute beeping Star Wars robot).
