Beware of the curse of Yamuna Ma

On Sunday, Delhi Lt Guv V K Saxena uttered something that all of us have always been too scared to utter: The Curse of Yamuna Ma. This is not an undiscovered sequel to The Hound of the Baskervilles he was referring to when he, in a big brotherly way, explained to outgoing CM Atishi why AAP lost the Delhi polls. It was something that Saxena had apparently also warned Arvind Kejriwal about in 2023, following the then-Kejriwal government getting the Supreme Court to stall a National Green Tribunal committee project under Saxena to clean the river.

While we aren't clear whether Saxena meant 'curse' in the literal or metaphorical sense, our research in empirical matters like occult shows that there, indeed, is a curse attached to the Yamuna. Especially during special days like Chhath Puja, there have been eyewitnesses who regularly claim to have seen a 'chudail' on the banks of the river that runs through Delhi. Sightings vary in places. But, each time, it is apparently an apparition in the form of a young, attractive politician spreading the virtues of development. Reportedly, the Lt Guv did not share any details. And, reportedly, Atishi did not respond to his observation either. But, Delhiites, regardless of whether you live this Yamna paar or that paar, be warned. The Curse of Yamuna Ma has not yet lifted. The lady of the river continues to ensnare.
