Aesthetic science

When the aesthetic sense, based on subtle aesthetic science, comes to touch a particular standard, it is called mysticism. And when this mysticism reaches the pinnacle of human glory or excellence of human grandeur, it is spirituality. What is mysticism? Mysticism is the never-ending endeavour to find a link between finite and infinite, between self and supra-Self, and between Khud and Khuda. This is mysticism.

Now, it is a human wont that they are never satisfied with something finite. They are always satisfied with something that is limited. And in quest of this non-finite, that is, in quest of this Infinite, man first encountered the aesthetic science. Aesthetic science does not always mean getting something pleasant or coming in contact with something enjoyable; it may be troublesome or embarrassing, but it may or may not always be pleasant. Aesthetic science is the ability to express oneself more subtly. From subtle to subtler, and when it reaches the subtlest point, that point is the pinnacle of human glory.

Now, artists must express themselves excellently and lucidly and place the same before the world. Anybody and everybody cannot do it. But enjoying this aesthetic bliss or aesthetic charm is within the capacity of every human being. Now, when man started his movement in quest of that Supreme Being, in quest of that Supreme Bliss, man first came in contact with spirituality. When the finite meets the Infinite, it is called yog.
