The tactic received rave reviews.
In the best-case scenario, flight delays can inspire an exchange of an abuse or two. In the worst-case scenario, there can well be a full-scale mutiny of passengers. Only two years ago, an Air India flight saw Indian passengers - who are certainly not the zen-and-bear-it types - attack attendants, threaten to break down the cockpit door to get to the pilot, and try to force open exit doors, proving that delays are a shitty experience for all parties involved. So, what better solution for flight delays than toilet paper?

Attendants of Southwest Airlines in the US found an ingenious way of channelling pent-up passenger peeve towards the staff and circumstances by pitting them against fellow passengers in a 'toilet paper contest' during an IT failure-related one-hour delay. It involved each row having to pass a roll over their heads without breaking the paper. The tactic received rave reviews - unlike a viral video that shows attendants of the same airline company serenading passengers with the nursery rhyme, 'If You're Happy and You Know It' during a four-hour delay - only to infuriate their audience further. Still, some of these creative diversionary strategies could come in handy for Indian airline companies when faced with the next 'snag'. Or, worse, an irate vegetarian passenger who's just been served a non-veg meal.
