ET Now caught up with Mukul Rohatgi, Attorney General, for his views on the SC verdict on the allocation of coal blocks. Excerpts:

ET Now: What happens to the ultra mega power projects (UMPPS)?

Mukul Rohatgi: They were already saved. It is just a clarification.

ET Now: So what happens to them?

Mukul Rohatgi: UMPPs were never a part of this case. So it is only a clarification as far as UMPPs are concerned.

ET Now: What about Coal India? Why have they been saved? They were not part of the screening process for allotment?

Mukul Rohatgi: Obviously, we are talking about 218. That’s all.

ET Now: What happens to the blocks that are nearing completion?

Mukul Rohatgi: No exceptions. They all stand cancelled.
